Three wineries didn’t really fit into our maps of Northern Virginia, Central Virginia or the Shenandoah Valley.
The Williamsburg Winery in the Chesapeake Bay region.
Lake Anna Winery near Fredericksburg.
DuCard Winery near Old Rag Mountain by Shenandoah National Park.
Lake Anna and DuCard are tehnically in Northern Virginia, but very much on the outskirts. Williamsburg is a geographical outlier — distant from the other concentrations of high-quality vineyards. It’s noteworthy that no wineries from Southern Virginia, the Eastern Shore, Hampton Roads, the Heart of Appalachia or the Virginia Mountains made our list.
